Providing Free Legal Assistance to Monterey County Seniors
Legal Services for Seniors (LSS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides at no cost to our clients, legal services by licensed staff attorneys and legal advocates to Monterey County seniors 60 years of age and above with an emphasis on serving those who are socially and/or economically needy.
Since 1985, LSS has helped more than 77,000+ Monterey Country Seniors with legal issues such as landlord-tenant conflicts, Medicare insurance mix-ups, Social Security mistakes, consumer fraud, elder abuse, simple wills, advance health care directives and more.
Most of our clients live on modest fixed incomes and may have difficulty negotiating legal problems on their own. When it comes to getting quality legal advice, LSS is their only option.
Last year, LSS protected more than $899,000 of our seniors’ money which otherwise would have been taken from them by fraud, Social Security and Medicare mistakes, wrongful lawsuits, sloppy billing practices and unscrupulous landlords.
With LSS’ help, that $899,000 stayed with our seniors to purchase needed items and services from our local Monterey County business community.
